Southern Vampire Mysteries.

What can I say? I'm addicted to this series. May isn't coming fast enough for the release of the 10th book. Will be really interesting. So much happens in each book. I've just finished reading them all and the short stories connected to the books and I really need the next book. I've read the pre-blurb and chapter 1 which is alot about her recovery from the even of the 9th book, "Dead and Gone" which was very hard going in events. So just forewarning that this blog is mainly for my quick reference on the books so you may or may not understand it.

The Southern Vampire Mysteries is about Sookie Stackhouse, a telepath who lives in a world where vampires have come out to the public and become legal citizens since the Japanese developed a synthetic blood (Imagine the suprise and shock you would get if you developed a product for the benefit of Medical Science, only to unveil a world that isnt just filled with people). Sookie lives in a small town, Bon Temps, Lousiana with her Grandmother, Adele Stackhouse and since her parents died in a flash flood she's grown up with her Grandmother for the majority of her life. She's 25 (in the first book) and work's at a bar, Merlotte's, owned by Sam Merlotte, who becomes one of her best friends. She has limited Family alive. When Adele dies only Jason- her older brother- are the only two left.... well there her cousin Hadley but no one has heard from her since she moved to New Orleans and going into a world of drugs etc (Sookie finds out about her cousin later on). It's when Bill Compton steps into the bar one day that Sookie's stories unravel. She's drawn to him because he's the first person she's met where she can't actually read his thoughts....he's also the first Vampire she's ever met. So the introduction of Bill sets off the story for the rest of the series. Within 10 books, only 2 years have past, so some very full days are in store for Sookie. The series incorporates Friends, Family, Love, Sex, Betrayal, Supernatural, War and more into this very addicting series.

Ok here is a brief outline of each book, and these don't even outline half of it- just the main parts. Like I said- always something happening. These are just copied and pasted, and mainly for my own benefit.

DEAD UNTIL DARK: Sookie meets Bill Compton, a vampire; a string of murders occurs in town; Sookie’s brother Jason is a primary suspect; someone close to Sookie is killed.

LIVING DEAD IN DALLAS: A friend of Sookie’s is brutally murdered; Sookie uses her special talent to look for the killer; Sookie is attacked by a rare supernatural creature; Sookie uses her talent to help a master vampire in Dallas; Sookie learns (the hard way) about The Fellowship of the Sun; Sookie learns about werewolves.

CLUB DEAD: Bill leaves town to allegedly work on a task for the vampire queen of Louisiana; Sookie meets Alcide, a gorgeous trustworthy werewolf, who helps her find Bill; Sookie receives assistance from Bubba; Sookie meets the vampire king of Mississippi; Sookie learns that Bill has betrayed her.

DEAD TO THE WORLD: Eric loses his memory and is taken in by Sookie; Sookie goes up against a coven of evil, shape shifting witches; Jason goes missing; Sookie learns about a local group of weres; Sookie ends up killing an enemy; Jason suffers through a a life altering experience.

DEAD AS A DOORNAIL: Jason goes through a transformation; a sniper is targeting the local shape shifter community; Sookie helps Alcide’s father attempt to secure the alpha position in his pack; Sam gets injured; Sookie’s house is seriously damaged and Sookie almost perishes in the disaster.

DEFINITELY DEAD: Sookie learns that a relative of hers is a vampire; Sookie befriends a really cool witch called Amelia; Sookie and the incredibly gorgeous were-tiger, Quinn, get closer; someone (or something) is stalking Sookie; Sookie is kidnapped; Sookie created ties with the Vampire Queen of Lousiana, Sophie-Ann Leclerq.

ALL TOGETHER DEAD: Sookie travels to the city of Rhodes for a vampire summit; Sookie helps the vampire Queen of Louisiana and puts herself in a murderer’s sights; vampires mysteriously begin turning up dead; Sookie is still mad at Bill about his betrayal; Sookie meets up with Barry the Bellboy again; The Fellowship of the Sun is present and may be involved in a sinister plot again Sookie and her friends.

FROM DEAD TO WORSE: Sookie’s main squeeze Quinn is missing; Sookie becomes involved in a battle between the Louisiana vampires; Sookie learns more about her family history; Sookie is betrayed by someone close to her; Sookie discovers 2 new living relatives - but are they human?

DEAD AND GONE: The weres and shifters have decided to come out of the closet to the world like the vampires; a were-panther that Sookie knows is found dead in Merlotte’s parking lot; a race of creatures older and more powerful than vamps or werewolves is waging a deadly war that Sookie gets pulled into.

And the book I'm waiting for next, DEAD IN THE FAMILY:
Sookie Stackhouse has finally settled into a relationship with the Viking vampire Eric, and her errant brother Jason seems to have his life in order, too. But all the other people in Sookie’s life – Eric himself, her former lover Bill, her friend and boss Sam – are having family problems. Eric’s maker shows up with Eric’s ‘brother’ in tow, the ailing Bill can only be healed by a blood sibling, and Sam’s brother’s marriage is about to take place …or will it? The furor raised by the coming out of the two-natured has yet to settle; some people are just not ready to sit down to dinner with a man who turns into a dog. And Sookie herself is still recovering from her last ordeal. She’s definitely improving, physically and mentally, but she’s always going to have some dark moments now. The werewolves tell her that there have been strange and ominous passers-by in the Stackhouse woods; now Sookie is about to come face-to-face with one of her more distant relatives…

True Blood has been based on this series. Series 1 is based around Dead Until Dark, and the Poster is for Season 2, based on Living Dead in Dallas. All of these Characters are invovled except Maryanne isn't part of the book series (She's a Maenad- only one in series, but they are very different book to tv). Also some parts are stepped up more to fill it up more (like jason and tara).

Ok I've dribbled enough on this. I just felt like it was dribble worthy :)
